North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival – Ticketing Terms & Conditions
By purchasing, receiving, transferring or using a ticket to the North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival (“the Festival”), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Tickets and Entry
A valid ticket is required for entry to the Festival.
Tickets may be presented electronically or in another format accepted by the Festival organisers. Each ticket is valid for one admission only and may be scanned or otherwise validated on entry.
The Festival organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any person from the Festival where reasonably necessary for safety, security, licensing compliance, intoxication, disorderly or inappropriate behaviour, breach of these Terms & Conditions, or failure to follow reasonable directions from Festival staff or security.
Tickets must only be purchased through authorised ticketing channels. The Festival accepts no responsibility for tickets purchased from unauthorised third parties, including fraudulent, duplicated or invalid tickets.
2. Refund Policy
All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be provided for change of mind or changes in personal circumstances.
This includes, but is not limited to, illness, injury, travel disruption, transport issues, work commitments, changes in personal plans, failure to attend, or adverse weather where the Festival continues to operate.
Where permitted by the ticketing platform, tickets may be transferred to another person. Any transfer is the responsibility of the original ticket purchaser.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.
3. Weather
The North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival is an outdoor event and will proceed in most weather conditions, including rain.
Ticket holders should check the forecast and come prepared for the conditions. Appropriate clothing, footwear, sunscreen, hats and personal rain protection are recommended.
Adverse weather does not entitle a ticket holder to a refund where the Festival proceeds.
The Festival organisers may alter the event layout, programme, opening hours, entertainment, infrastructure or other aspects of the Festival where reasonably necessary due to weather, ground conditions, safety considerations or other circumstances.
4. Cancellation, Postponement and Force Majeure
The Festival organisers reserve the right to cancel, postpone, relocate, reschedule, shorten or materially alter the Festival where it is necessary or appropriate due to circumstances outside the reasonable control of the organisers.
Such circumstances may include, but are not limited to, severe or unsafe weather conditions, natural disasters, fire, flood, earthquake, pandemic or public health emergency, government or local authority direction, civil emergency, acts of terrorism, war, industrial action, venue unavailability, infrastructure failure, transport disruption, or any other event or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of the Festival organisers (“Force Majeure Event”).
Where the Festival is cancelled, postponed, relocated, shortened or materially altered as a result of a Force Majeure Event, tickets will be non-refundable.
Where practicable, the Festival organisers may elect to transfer tickets to a rescheduled event or provide another alternative at their discretion; however, they are not obliged to do so except where required by law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.
5. Programme and Event Changes
All advertised wineries, food vendors, performers, entertainment, activities, schedules and other Festival elements are subject to change without notice.
The withdrawal, cancellation or substitution of an individual winery, food vendor, performer, activity or other advertised element does not entitle a ticket holder to a refund.
The Festival organisers reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the Festival programme, site layout, operating times, activities and services where required.
6. Alcohol and Host Responsibility
The North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival is a licensed event and operates in accordance with New Zealand alcohol licensing requirements.
Valid identification may be required to purchase or consume alcohol. Accepted forms of identification will be those permitted under applicable New Zealand alcohol licensing requirements.
Festival staff, vendors, security and licence holders reserve the right to refuse the service of alcohol to any person who is intoxicated, behaving inappropriately, unable to provide acceptable identification, or where service would otherwise breach licensing requirements.
Intoxicated persons may be refused entry or removed from the Festival without refund.
The Festival encourages responsible consumption. Water and non-alcoholic options will be available.
Alcohol purchased outside the Festival may not be brought into the Festival grounds.
7. Minors
Any age restrictions or requirements applying to specific ticket types will be displayed during the ticket purchasing process.
Children and young people attending the Festival must be appropriately supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
Alcohol must not be supplied to minors except where expressly permitted by New Zealand law.
Parents and caregivers remain responsible for the supervision, safety and behaviour of children in their care throughout the Festival.
8. Festival Transport
Where Festival transport is purchased, transport tickets are valid only for the service, departure point and/or time specified on the ticket or booking confirmation.
Ticket holders are responsible for arriving at the designated departure location in sufficient time. Festival transport cannot be held for late passengers.
Festival transport will endeavour to operate according to the advertised timetable; however, departure and arrival times may be affected by traffic, weather, road conditions, operational requirements or other circumstances outside the organisers’ control.
Missing a Festival transport service does not entitle the ticket holder to a refund of their transport or Festival admission ticket.
Where transport services are provided by third-party operators, additional operator terms and conditions may apply.
9. Personal Property
Ticket holders are responsible for their own belongings while attending the Festival.
To the extent permitted by law, the Festival organisers accept no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal property.
Any lost property handed to Festival staff will be managed in accordance with the Festival’s lost property procedures.
10. Safety and Behaviour
Ticket holders must follow all reasonable instructions provided by Festival staff, security personnel, emergency services and venue representatives.
Behaviour that is dangerous, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, disruptive or likely to adversely affect the safety or enjoyment of others will not be tolerated.
The Festival organisers reserve the right to remove any person whose behaviour is considered unsafe or inappropriate. No refund will be provided where a person is refused entry or removed from the Festival for these reasons.
Ticket holders must not enter restricted, staff-only, production or vendor areas unless authorised.
11. Prohibited Items
For the safety, comfort and enjoyment of everyone attending the Festival, certain items are not permitted within the Festival grounds.
Prohibited items include:
• Gazebos, marquees, tents, pop-up shelters or other structures of any kind
• Alcohol purchased outside the Festival
• Glass bottles or glassware
• Illegal substances
• Weapons or dangerous items
• Outside food except baby food products
Gazebos and other personal shelters are strictly prohibited, regardless of weather conditions.
Ticket holders should come prepared for the forecast with appropriate clothing, sunscreen, hats and personal rain protection where required.
Festival management and security reserve the right to inspect bags and belongings as a condition of entry and to require prohibited items to be removed from the Festival site.
Any person who refuses to comply with a reasonable request from Festival management or security may be refused entry or removed from the Festival without refund.
12. Food, Allergies and Dietary Requirements
Food and beverage products available at the Festival are supplied by individual vendors and producers.
Ticket holders with allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements are responsible for checking directly with the relevant vendor before purchasing or consuming food or beverages.
The Festival cannot guarantee that products or preparation areas will be free from particular allergens.
13. Photography and Filming
Photography, video recording and other media may be captured at the Festival for promotional, marketing, editorial and archival purposes.
By attending the Festival, you acknowledge that you may appear incidentally in photographs or footage captured in public areas of the event.
Where practical, anyone who does not wish to be the identifiable focus of photography or filming should advise the photographer, videographer or a member of Festival staff.
Unauthorised commercial photography, filming or recording may be prohibited without prior approval from the Festival organisers.
14. Accessibility and Special Requirements
Ticket holders who require accessibility assistance or have specific requirements are encouraged to contact the Festival organisers prior to the event so reasonable arrangements can be discussed.
While reasonable efforts will be made to provide an accessible event, the Festival is held outdoors and some areas may be affected by grass, uneven ground and weather conditions.
15. Risk and Liability
Attendance at the Festival is at the ticket holder’s own risk.
Ticket holders are responsible for taking reasonable care of themselves and others and for complying with Festival safety requirements.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Festival organisers will not be liable for loss, damage, injury, delay or additional expense arising from circumstances outside their reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability or consumer rights where doing so would be unlawful.
16. Privacy
Personal information collected through ticket purchases, enquiries or Festival communications will be handled in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy law and the privacy policies of the Festival and its authorised ticketing provider.
Ticket purchaser information may be used where reasonably necessary to administer the Festival and communicate important information relating to tickets, transport, safety, event changes, postponement or cancellation.
Marketing communications will be managed in accordance with applicable consent and unsubscribe requirements.
17. Resale and Ticket Transfers
Tickets must not be resold for commercial gain or used for competitions, promotions, advertising, hospitality packages or other commercial purposes without prior written approval from the Festival organisers.
The Festival organisers reserve the right to cancel tickets reasonably believed to have been obtained or resold fraudulently or in breach of these Terms & Conditions.
Where ticket transfers are permitted by the ticketing provider, responsibility for correctly transferring the ticket rests with the original purchaser.
18. Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing, receiving, transferring or using a ticket to the North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival, the ticket holder acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
The Festival organisers may update these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary. Any material changes affecting existing ticket holders will be communicated where appropriate.
